We recently completed an automated conveyor system designed for a client handling large, oily engine components. The project addressed the specific operational challenges of protecting equipment, ensuring operator safety, and preventing oil contamination between parts.
TAILORED OPTIONS
Controls and Drives
The system uses Siemens controls with VFDs for precise speed regulation and smooth acceleration with remote IO and is controlled from an existing PLC elsewhere in the manufacturing facility.
Safety Systems
A pull-cord E-stop runs the full length of the conveyor for emergency shutdown from any position. Heavy-duty guarding protects area scanners from impact during part loading and prevents sensor damage and unplanned downtime.
Oil Management
Parts arrive from machining with residual oil. The custom pallets and fixturing include an integrated drainage system to keep oil away from the components. An oil catch tray beneath the conveyor protects the motor and control enclosure from contamination.
Serviceability and Access
The motor is mounted underneath the conveyor allowing for full access to the perimeter of the conveyor and increased accessibility.
